Biologist

The Innu
Development Limited Partnership is planning a project in
the Smallwood Reservoir in Central Labrador to determine
whether a commercial fishery for whitefish may be feasible.
The Reservoir is a 6500 square kilometers body of water -
the tenth largest freshwater body of water in Canada. Data
will be collected to be used for a stock assessment and to
establish annual harvest levels. The project will take
place over the next two or three fishing
seasons.
IDLP is
inviting applications for the position of fisheries
biologist for the project.
The
biologist will create, design and implement a research
study to collect data on the fish populations with emphasis
on whitefish. The biologist will also analyze and interpret
data collected and prepare reports with
recommendations.
The
individual filling this position much have good
communications skills and will be required to work closely
with government scientists and managers in the relevant
fields.
The
successful applicant will have a graduate degree in
biological sciences including courses in fisheries science
and statistics. Relevant experience would be an
asset.
