Position Overview
Our Calgary office seeks an experienced Water Quality Specialist to join our Aquatics team. This group specializes in baseline habitat assessments, environmental impact assessments (EIAs), risk assessments, biomonitoring, habitat evaluation and restoration, environmental effects monitoring (EEM), and regulatory permitting.

Responsibilities
This position will entail writing baseline, environmental impact assessment and environmental assessment reports, conducting QA/QC on water quality data, evaluating water chemistry to ensure compliance with regulations, managing field programs, and mentoring junior staff.

This role also requires providing direct supervision and leadership of others, including other professionals. They can plan, execute and manage Matrix projects, typically serving as the primary Matrix contact for a major client or a specific line of technical work. They direct the execution of projects in a cost-effective and timely manner. They independently pursue Matrix business development opportunities and report back to management. They can provide technical guidance for complex projects.

Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a M.Sc. in biology, environmental science or a related field and ten years of experience in a similar role. The candidate must have a strong understanding of water chemistry in the context of an ecological setting and be a self-starter who takes pride in a job well done.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills; write clearly and concisely; have the ability to supervise field crews; and feel comfortable providing leadership and mentoring to co-workers and professionals
