is your opportunity to lead the delivery of the fisheries
management program for the Waterways management area!
Nestled in the boreal forest at the confluence of four
rivers, Fort McMurray, the largest city in the
Municipality, is a vibrant community with an unlimited

Reporting to the Fish and Wildlife Manager, you will be
responsible for carrying out complex assignments with a
high degree of independence, such as conducting cool and
coldwater fishery assessment programs, testing new
management techniques, and reviewing large-scale Oil Sands
developments and their potential impacts on aquatic
ecosystems. You will apply your professional expertise of
fisheries management in the development of comprehensive
reports and in the provision of interpretations,
conclusions and recommendations on significant fisheries
issues. Supervising staff, managing public relations and
participating on multi-stakeholder committees working to
establish acceptable solutions for regional scale issues
related to fisheries resources will require you to utilize
your excellent organizational and supervisory skills, as
well as your ability to communicate effectively. Your
knowledge of fisheries and habitat management principles
will be utilized in all aspects of this position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A degree
in Biology or a related field, plus extensive experience
directly related to fisheries management. Equivalencies
will be considered. Previous experience in managing
fisheries and the Environmental Impact Assessment process
will be given preference. Supervisory and public
consultation skills would be considered an asset.
Note: Fort McMurray Allowance of $1040.00 per month is
