Wildlife Management Branch has an exciting opportunity for
a highly motivated, strategic planner with an extensive
background in wildlife management.
Reporting to the Head, Game and Priority Species, you
will be responsible for the review, development and
evaluation of a wide variety of broad-spectrum wildlife
management policies and programs and for planning,
coordinating and the delivery of game bird management
programs. You will also represent the province in
negotiations with the Federal government relating to game
bird management and on international Flyway Committees.
You will require strong interpersonal and communication
skills to represent the division on various committees and
to interact with department staff, industry, and external
stakeholders. In order to develop long-term management
program plans, you will utilize your business planning
abilities, knowledge of wildlife management principles and
strong consensus building skills. In addition, you will
have skills in the development of provincial policy and
program priorities.
Qualifications: A degree
in Biology or a related field, plus extensive progressively
responsible related experience in wildlife management,
including wildlife population management and allocation of
wildlife resources with an emphasis on bird game.
Additional related graduate education will be considered in
lieu of some experience. A valid Class 5 Driver's License
is required.
Note: Final candidates will be asked to undergo a
security screening. This competition may be used to fill
future vacancies. This position may be filled at a lower
classification and salary.
